Looking for a simple, budget-friendly Christmas craft that’s bursting with charm? This DIY Ribbon Christmas Chain is a beautiful twist on the classic paper chain we all made as children — but this time, it’s made with leftover ribbon for a touch of rustic elegance.
You’ll Need:
Leftover wired Christmas ribbon (in various designs and colours)
Scissors
Glue gun
How To Make It:
Cut the Ribbon:
Cut your ribbon into equal lengths — around 9 inches works perfectly for a lovely, chunky garland.

Form the First Loop:
Take your first strip, form it into a loop, and glue the ends together using your glue gun.
Link the Next Loop:
Thread the next ribbon strip through the first loop before gluing its ends together — just like making a paper chain!

Continue the Pattern:
Keep linking your ribbons, mixing colours and textures for that cosy, homespun feel.
Once complete, hang it across your mantel, doorway, or wrap it around your Christmas tree for a nostalgic touch that feels straight out of a storybook.
I loved how mine turned out — the mix of tartans, golds, and deep greens gave it such a rustic, homemade charm. I’ve decided to make it even longer this year so I can drape it around the tree (which means a little festive shopping trip for more ribbon is definitely on the cards!).
