DIY Christmas Angels: Elegant Paper Decorations

Bring a handmade, delicate touch to your holiday décor with these charming paper angels. They’re simple to make, elegant, and perfect for hanging on the tree, garlands, or even as festive gift toppers.

Materials You’ll Need:

• 2 sheets of paper per angel (see suggestions below)

• Glue stick & glue gun

• Wooden bead with a hole for the head, or a mini bauble

• Ribbon or twine for hanging

Paper Suggestions:

• Paper doilies – delicate and classic, perfect for a traditional look.

• Sheet music – adds a festive, vintage charm.

• Newspaper or book pages – ideal for a rustic, antique feel.

• Old maps or colored craft paper – for a unique, personalized twist.

Using these types of paper not only makes each angel special but also gives your decorations a vintage, nostalgic feel that’s perfect for a cosy holiday home.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Fold the Paper:

   • Take each sheet and fold it like an accordion, with folds approximately 1 cm wide.

   • Once both sheets are fully accordion-folded, take the top 1/4 of each folded piece and fold it over on itself. This fold will later create the wings.

     
     

2. Assemble the Body and Wings:

   • Along the long edge of one folded piece, add a line of glue up to the start of the folded wing portion—do not glue the folded part of the wings.

   • Stick the two folded pieces together along this edge.

   • *optional to glue the wings to the dress or not. See very top picture for wings glued, and picture above instructions section for wings not glued. If glueing follow next step.

   • Add glue along the underside of the wing folds and attach them to the dress portion. Repeat for both wings.

   • Now your angel has a dress and wings.

     
     

3. Add the Head:

   • Take a wooden bead with a hole for the head.

   • Thread your ribbon or twine through the hole first and knot it underneath the bead. This will create your hanging loop.

   • Glue the bead on top of the torso, securing both the head and the hanging loop in place.

• Decorate with glitter, tiny beads, or markers for a personalized festive look.
