Honeycomb is a delicious treat on its own, or paired with cupcakes, cheesecakes, and other festive desserts. It can be tricky to get right, but don’t worry—we’ll guide you through every step. Having all your ingredients and equipment ready is essential, as honeycomb sets quickly and can stick to the pan if not handled fast.
Unlike regular honeycomb, our version has a slightly toffee-like, chewy texture that makes it extra indulgent and irresistible. It can be made a day or two in advance—just store it in the fridge. For a festive Halloween twist, we love decorating ours with melted chocolate, salted popcorn, and orange or green candy-coated chocolates like Smarties or M&Ms. Halloween-themed marshmallows also make a fun and playful addition.
Perfect for Halloween movie nights, family gatherings, and festive treats, this honeycomb is fun to make and even more fun to enjoy!
The honeycomb can be made up a day or two in advance, just make sure to keep it in the fridge. We like to decorate ours with melted chocolate, salted popcorn and orange and green chocolate coated candy (such as smarties or m & m's). Halloween themed marshmallows are also a great way to decorate it.

We also sometimes like to have it with salted pretzels, or Halloween themed marshmallows. Honeycomb is also great to cut up into small bite-sized pieces and snack on during a film. So without further ado, lets get on with our delicious Halloween movie night toffee honeycomb recipe!

INGREDIENTS
For the honeycomb
1 & 1/4 cups of caster sugar
3/4 cup of honey (or golden syrup if vegan)
1 tbsp of bicarbonate of soda (it must be sieved)
1 tsp of vanilla extract
pinch of salt
For the toppings
Approx 100g of melted milk or dark chocolate
handful of candy
large handful of popcorn
(add as much toppings as you like)
METHOD
You need to move quick with this recipe, so prepare and weigh out all of your ingredients beforehand and line your tray (we find it easier using silicone sheets).
In a medium sized saucepan add the sugar, honey, vanilla and salt and cook on a medium - high heat for approx 4 - 5 minutes or until it starts turning an amber colour - keep stirring the whole time to ensure it doesn't stick to or burn the pan.
Once it reaches an amber colour remove from the heat and add in your sieved bicarbonate of soda and quickly stir with a silicone spatula until the bicarbonate of soda has fully dissolved. Work fast because the mixture will largely grow in size and transfer immediately to your lined tray.
Leave to fully cool and harden before decorating with the melted chocolate.
Go ahead and add your popcorn and candy and allow to cool in the fridge until the chocolate has hardened.
Transfer to a chopping board and cut into your desired sized pieces - enjoy!
The honeycomb should last for 3 - 4 days in an airtight container in the fridge

Loved it! Lot easier to make than I thought.
